Eat up. Drink up.

1 Corinthians 11:23-30

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink Eat Up

I used to be terrified when I took communion when I was younger. It was if I had to remember every sin I did and confess it before I took it. They always would say, “if you do this in an unworthy manner you’re bringing judgment upon yourself.” So me being me, smart and all that, (lol) I would let it pass right by. I don’t got time for more added stress and worry to my life. This Christian life was already hard as it was when I younger. Then I got the revelation of what it really meant. The Corinthian people were wilding. Well, they were a wild church but that’s for another time. They were eating good and drinking before everyone got there. They were in sections and cliques. They were looking for approval and recognition from others. It wasn’t the Lord’s Supper. It was something else.

The way Paul broke it down was like this. Jesus told his disciples to take and eat. Do this in remembrance of me. And in the same manner He also took the cup, saying, this cup is the new covenant of my blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as you eat the bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. It’s simple really, it’s not even about us and counting all our sin. It’s about Him and what He did. What does the body represent? It represents the beaten body of Jesus. Bruised up. Holes in His body. Not recognizable. And what does it say about the beaten He took? It’s for our healing and deliverance. Our health, wholeness, and prosperity. So when we take the bread, we remember what happened to His body for us. By His stripes we were healed! Let’s talk about the blood now. What does the blood represent? It represents the forgiveness of all our sin. Past. Present. Future. That sacrifice was enough. When we try to do it on our own it’s disrespectful to what He did.

When we receive communion and don’t remember what He did, we’re taking it in an unworthy manner, not discerning His body and blood. This is how we end up bringing judgment to ourselves. This is how we’re guilty of the body and the blood. In verse 30 it says for this reason many are weak and sick and dying before their time. What’s the opposite of taking it in the wrong way? When you take it the right way. What’s benefits will it bring? Health! Wholeness! Prosperity! Long life! When you remember what He did and judge yourself according to that, that’s where the blessing is. Every stripe He took was for our healing! What’s your sickness? He paid for it already! Stand on that! Receive communion and be made whole! You know why I don’t be tripping off my sin? Cuz He already paid for it! No license to sin, it’s a license to live and love Him knowing I don’t have to be perfect. So when I do mess up, I can count on Him. This gospel really too good frfr!  Why not go wild out then? That ain’t love. The more you know how much He loves you, the more you don’t want to sin. That last part of verse 26, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. That’s shouting it out from the rooftop. Jesus healed me already! He forgave me already! And I’m on this type of time till He comes! And he’s coming soon! Are you ready? He’s coming

If you are not saved or know someone that isn’t saved and what I mean by saved is believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior please follow the ABC’s of salvation below by repeating.

Accountability- say, Dear God, I am a sinner,

Believe- I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died for all of my sins, past, present, and future and finished the work on the cross.

Confess- I believe that you resurrected from the grave on the 3rd day and confess you as Lord and Savior of my life. Heavenly Father thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place and I am now the Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬ ‭

After this, simply believe it in your heart.
