Matthew 16:1
“He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Christianity is about someone to run to not something to run from.
In (Matthew 16:13-17), Jesus asked His disciples, who do people say He is. They begin to reply with names such as, John The Baptist, Elijah, and Jeremiah. Jesus then drilled down deeper and asked, who do YOU say that I am? Peter answered, that you are the Messiah and Son of the Living God. Jesus was ecstatic at this response because He knew that flesh and blood didn’t reveal this but Only Father God!
Jesus wants to know today, who do you say that He is? Not what your community says, not who you and your spouse says He is, not who your Frat or Sorority says He is, not who you and your siblings say He is. Who do YOU say He is? Who you believe Him to be or not believe Him to be will be displayed every day that you have breath.
Peter, in front of the disciples said, Jesus is the Messiah and Son of The Living God. Even after seeing Jesus walk on water, heal the sick, raise the dead and feed over 5000 people with basically a lunchable, in (Matthew 26:25 and Matthew 26:49) Judas STILL called Jesus, “rabbi” or teacher. Who you see Jesus is could be a matter of life and death! Do you see Him as a healer? Do you see Him as a provider? Do you see Him as a sacrifice on cross that covered all of your sins?
Peter and Judas both betrayed Jesus. Peter who confessed Jesus as the Messiah, repented and became the cornerstone for the church. Judas who saw Jesus as just a teacher killed himself out of his guilt of betraying Jesus.
God doesn’t have grandchildren. There is no legacy process. Each individual at the age of accountability must answer the question, Who do you say Jesus is?
If you are not saved or know someone that isn’t saved and what I mean by saved is believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior please follow the ABCs of salvation below by repeating.
Accountability- say, Dear God, I am a sinner,
Believe, I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died for all of my sins, past, present, and future and finished the work on the cross.
Confess - I believe that you resurrected from the grave on the 3rd day and confess you as Lord and Savior of my life. Heavenly Father thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place and I am now the Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.
After this, simply believe it in your heart.
I’m So Free!!!
